The Ectoplasmic Hauntby *Destron23

Community Projects / Holidays / 2011 / Halloween

A tragic and Fateful accident once transpired can never be undone. This earthbound spectre met his demise at the ripe age of 19. Now, this ephemeral being of ectoplasm haunts the cemetery under the shroud of dusk. He and the noble spirits who remain are a force of benevolent protection on this hallowed eve. The sacred auras they emanate ward off the vile and wicked creatures that crawl out from the deep fissure which tears the Earth asunder on this night. Tonight when the mystic is at its closest to the world of the living, the evil these eldritch abominations spread must be ceased.

Is that narrative a cliché? LOL Here’s my main Halloween deviation. I put a lot of work into this, so I hope you guys will enjoy it. I decided to feature a ghost since it won this pole [link] (well I preferred it over the ones that tied with ghost) I really like how the ghost and pumpkins turned out. I decided to colour the ghost in the style of Casper the movie, it’s just a likeable style that you don’t tend to see used on many digitally drawn ghosts.

This is also my submission for the

Halloween contest. Not sure if it can even be entered because a ghost is slightly inhumanoid (I asked about this but never got a reply). *crosses fingers that it'll be at least accepted* Don’t know if it will win or not, but wish me luck.

Aaahh my oc ghost character Max "died" at 19 too O,o Lol. He isn't exactly dead though, his soul was drained away the more he used his powers (he is part of an rp my friends and I are doing, each character was granted a gift. His happened to be ghost abilities haha). I really like your ghost

Well, if he had died older (which I suppose would be more realistic), I wouldn't have had this really good design. XD Actually now that I look at the age again, I thought it was 19 and not 18, doesn't really matter though. I guess in my mind he died of some sort of car accident. I suppose you could subscribe to the theory that some fantasy writers use where ghosts are sort of born into their own world and are not the souls of the dead; but I find that theory somewhat annying and I don't like seeing it in fiction.

Thanks. They're really the details that give the character his "character". Before I drew him into a ghost, I was randomly sketching out head designs and came up with this. Since it was Halloween, I ended up using that head design to create the ghost.

I'd reveal it, but I honestly have no clue what it should be.

I actually think about what his name could be all the time, but I can never really think of one that I think suits him. It would be useful too when people go to draw him for me since they can never make a title for their deviation out of his name.

I was looking through all the fan-art of Ghost and the description always said Ghost OC of Destron23, etc etc, and so then I became curious about his name. X3

Yeah, I'm so happy I designed him. It's one of my favourite pieces I've made and I feel I haven't rereached that quality of work with some of my other stuff.

Yeah, I could see how you'd be curious after seing all that fanart without a name. I think in the near future I'm going to make a journal and see if people can help me name him. lol

I think Sofia's version was the first I ever saw, and I do have to admit that I do like that one a lot too. owo <3
Das-Ratsel's is also very nice and I love the coloring style.
I like B4NG's because of the expression ~ it's kinda calm and sweet. <3
All the other fanarts have him with a smirk, so it's nice seeing him with a different expression. o3o

Also, I'm curious to see what the :thumb290024310: picture is, since it's not showing up in the description and I have no way to search for it. XD

Sofia did such a good job, I just wish I could convince her to send me that file. Because of the language barrier, I don't think she understood everytime I asked. XD

You do have a point there. That one's way more subtle. Everyone else sort of draws him how I did in terms of expression.
